Cardboard Wine Boxes
Cardboard wine boxes cover rigid lid-and-base sets, magnetic closures, drawers, foldable boxes, double-door boxes and boxes with handles. Most buyers use a greyboard base with specialty or coated facing paper. That gives a clean surface for brand printing and finishing without adding the weight of wood or the cost of leather.
The main decision is structural: does the box need to sit open on a retail shelf, close with a magnetic front, fold flat for storage, or carry by a handle? After that, the insert does the work. We set the bottle in a tray that holds it at four points and check movement before the box leaves the factory.
How to Choose
Start with the box structure. A rigid lid-and-base or magnetic closure suits gift sets and retail displays. A foldable box saves storage space and ships flat, but creases must not crack, corners need to sit at 90 degrees when erected, and magnet position is controlled to plus or minus 1 mm.
Match the insert to the bottle shape. Velvet trays, EVA foam, blister and paper mould are common. The rule is the same for all: hold the bottle at four points with no unsupported neck or shoulder. We shake for 10 seconds, tilt to 45 degrees, and invert the box to check release.
Ask for greyboard at 1200 g minimum, or 1400 g if the box will hold spirits. Facing paper should be at least 157 g specialty or coated stock. We avoid recycled greyboard and high-moisture paper. Pantone matching covers first-article approval and mid-run sampling, with black, deep blue and burgundy the hardest shades to hold.
