Quality Standard
Every wine box we make starts with the same question: will it protect the bottle and hold its finish through shipping, handling and display? This page lists the board, insert, tolerance, colour and pre-shipment checks we use on custom wine boxes and wine bags. No hidden standards. No recycled greyboard.
Board and Paper Standard
We use greyboard at 1200 g minimum for wine boxes. For spirits and heavier bottles we recommend 1400 g. Facing paper starts at 157 g, specialty or coated. We do not use recycled greyboard or high-moisture paper. Common facing options include kraft paper, white card, gold or silver cardboard, flocked paper, and leather-textured paper.
Insert and Bottle Fit Checks
Inserts hold the bottle at four points. We do not leave the neck or shoulder unsupported. Common inserts are velvet trays, EVA foam, blister, and paper mould. Before an insert is approved, we run three checks: shake for 10 seconds with no movement, tilt to 45 degrees with no slide, and invert with no release. The bottle stays put.
Tolerances and Colour Control
Our control tolerance is plus or minus 1 mm on inserts and plus or minus 2 mm on the box body. For foldable boxes, creases must not crack, magnet position is plus or minus 1 mm, and corners sit at 90 degrees when erected. Colour starts with Pantone matching, first-article approval and mid-run sampling. Black, deep blue and burgundy are the hardest to hold.
In-House Pre-Shipment Checks
Before packing, we run our in-house checks. A loaded box goes through a 1.2 m six-face drop test. We apply stacking top load of 40 kg or more for 24 hours. Truck and sea vibration simulation follows, with no internal movement allowed. If a box fails any step, we fix the insert or board before shipment.
