Why foldable export boxes change storage math

Rigid boxes present well but occupy container space. Empty packaging often arrives at a local warehouse first and is filled to a sales schedule, occupying racking the whole time. Buyers often compare box unit price without comparing how many empty packs fit in a shipping carton. That number, not the box itself, drives the storage difference.

Our foldable export wine boxes ship flat. Storage comparisons should state their basis: cartons of empty packaging only, excluding bottles, pallets, aisle space and container void. We work from carton count, not loose percentage claims. Carton count equals ceiling of sets divided by sets per carton; total volume equals cartons times carton length times width times height.

What we prove on a physical sample

Three things must be proven on a physical sample, not a 3D render. First, creases that do not crack the board. Greyboard weight and crease depth have to match. We use greyboard at 1200 g minimum and check fold lines before production. Second, magnet position within plus or minus 1 mm. Third, square corners at 90 degrees when erected, or the insert will not seat.

We treat foldable boxes as exact-fit packaging. Our control tolerance for box body is plus or minus 2 mm, and magnet position plus or minus 1 mm. Fold lines must not crack through the board surface. If a crease shows stress on the sample, we adjust crease depth or board caliper before tooling is approved.

Insert seating and assembly sequence

We also check whether the insert's bottom tab fouls the side wall on erection. If it does, every unit needs manual correction on the line. We adjust the tab profile and print the assembly sequence on the reverse of the insert. That keeps hand assembly consistent across batches.

After the tab is corrected, we load a bottle and run our in-house checks. The insert holds the bottle at four points, with no unsupported neck or shoulder. Shake for 10 seconds with no movement, tilt 45 degrees with no slide, invert with no release. If any check fails, we revise the profile before mass production.

How to compare storage figures fairly

Volume reduction is not the same as freight cost reduction, and local assembly labour should be counted. A foldable box can cut empty-pack carton volume but still require assembly time at the filling site. We ask buyers to compare carton counts and total carton volume using the same basis: empty packaging only, no bottles, no pallets, no aisle space, no container void.
